Why is there a cost for hunts these days?
I've heard several reasons, so I'll bunch them all together for my answer:  Mostly it is to off set the cost of the builder.  We want to provide you with gifts that you enjoy and that will perhaps entice you back to our stores.  It takes L$ to get the tools needed to make the gifts (for an example, any gift that I give that has animations, costs me 1000 to 2000 L$ for a SINGLE animation, and if it is a couple animation, that runs 2000 to 4000 L$ just for one couple animation, not including textures, sculpt maps, mesh, etc.).  It "costs" a builder time.  I *REALLY* enjoy building most items, so I give of my time freely for those things.  A lot of hunt organizers want the merchants to provide a photo of the gift made, and that costs 10 L$ with every hunt.  It used to be that hunters would buy SOMETHING from a store or drop a few "coins" into a store tip jar.  That's not always the case now (but we THANK YOU for those who still do that!!!!).  So if you're asked for a L$ or so, think of it as a thank you gift to the merchant who is hoping above all else, that you ENJOY the gift made for you.
